There are many different types of video tape format that have been available
in the past. Most have now been replaced as technology
improves. The biggest changes was to the switch from analogue to digital
tape technology.
VHS tapes use analogue technology and compared to modern DVD or Blu-Ray standards, the quality of the picture from a VHS tape is fairly poor.
Common video tape formats include:
