Once you have converted your VHS tapes to a standard DVD format,
you can use video editing software to edit your movies.
In most cases you will first need to 'rip' the movie from the DVD to
your hard disk. This simply means grabbing the move in DVD format
and converting it to a format such as AVI or MPG which can be modified
using your video editing software.
You need a modern computer to perform video editing, with lots of
disk space, lots of RAM and a fast CPU. If you try to perform
video editing on a older or slower computer it may not work at all or it
may be very slow.
Each particular video editing program is slightly different and has different
features and enhancements. Some of the most popular video editing
programs are:
Corel VideoStudio Pro
Adobe Premiere Elements
NOTE: Windows has a free video editing program called Windows Movie
Maker, but it has extremely limited capabilities.
